Country boy | City Boy.
Chicago based Photographer and storyteller hailing from Lee County Iowa, nestled quietly along the banks of the Mississippi River. Wisconsin born and Iowa bred I am a Midwesterner through and through. It would be the summers spent with my father wandering around Cincinnati, Ohio with my first camera that would forever change the way I interacted with the world around me. In 2002, after graduating high school, I relocated to Chicago and as a 2007 Graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s Photography Department, I have been home based in Chicago for over a decade of winters.
With a deep interest in documenting the changing social and cultural landscape I strive to reflect the many communities struggling with a changing identity and ritual in the post industrial economy. I work to honor the inherent qualities of photography to record history as well as to invoke emotion conceptually. I have always had a deep need for life on the road and for the constant exploration of the rapidly globalized world I come into contact with. I hope to be a unifying force for the lives I have been honored to document with a diverse audience that I aim to reach. Having a unique blend of Fine Art, Documentary, and Photojournalism my style is constantly evolving. My use of the camera as an exploratory tool has been my ticket into worlds otherwise unknown, and a mirror to my own.
